I will be returning to Top Tech for any future computer problems and recommending their services to anyone having issues.

About a month ago, I woke up one morning unable to power on my 4-5 year old laptop. Having a Geek Squad service coverage, I first took it to Best Buy to have them take a look. A costly, risky solution was offered, but I wasn’t fully convinced it was the only option.

After doing some research, I found Top Tech/The Eldest Geek and, impressed by reviews, decided to give them a call. I spoke with Alex, and after describing my problem and giving him my model information, he immediately gave me 3 or 4 possible issues that could be preventing my computer to start. It was evident that this guy knew his “you know what,” so I took a ride out to the Top Tech offices the next day for a free diagnostic.

In about 5 minutes, Alex found what the issue was and gave me an estimate, which would be for the actual work only and not a part that needed to be replaced. A few days later, he called and said it was all ready to go. The computer is now running better than before and Alex even replaced some loose screws free of charge, so it feels sturdier as well. All of this was done at a fraction of what Geek Squad was suggesting, which I’m not even sure would have worked and kept my data intact – something I stressed the importance of to Alex.

Since having this repair, I have also turned to Top Tech to complete a data transfer and replace a broken screen on my brother’s laptop. If you’re having a problem and feel like all hope is lost, give Top Tech a call. Their services helped me to avoid a major business and personal setback.

They do communicate & follow up with stuff, which is good.

A little unusual setting, but very knowledgeable, straightforward, and helpful. Price was reasonable. The only problem was the repair did not hold and the laptop hinge popped after two days.

He transferred all data from a damaged computer to a new computer. He did it while I waited. I was thoroughly pleased with the results.

2011 iMac 27inch was really slow. They put in a New HDD and is working like brand new.. They will not scam you on price and quality. Thanks

Originally, I took my Macbook Air to a different business, and after they told me it wasn't fixable, Craig said he could handle it! When I brought it in, he opened the laptop directly in front of me, showed me the water damage that I hadn't seen on my own, and was extremely helpful/knowledgeable. I enjoyed listening to him tell me stories while he assessed my broken laptop, and in the end, he gave me an excellent deal! The next time I have computer troubles (hopefully not anytime soon), I know where to come! Thank you, Craig!!

Craig fixed my MacBook Pro after it sustained water damage. My screen’s backlight was not working and he replaced the logic board and had it back to me within a week, and charged a reasonable price – much less than Apple. Also, Craig is the only person I found that can do hardware in the entire D.C. area. The trip from Foggy Bottom to Alexandria was worth it. He took all my calls and thoroughly explained what was going on at all stages of the repair. I would recommend Craig to anyone. Thanks Craig!

I was in search of hard drive rails that would fit my custom PC and hold my hard drive in place. Though they didn't have them (they don't seem to be available anywhere), the gentleman brainstormed different solutions and suggestions and presented an alternative solution using screws, which although the original intention couldn't work, I was able to use those screws in a different manner to secure my hard drive. So ultimately, problem solved! Great service.

I am a small business owner and had some trouble with my main computer at work and I was going to miss payroll for my staff as well as not be able to fill a customer's order and Craig and his team saved the day! I am in home improvement and computers are my area of comfort. Craig took his time to help me understand what was happening and what he could do. His price was the best around and I am glad to have found them! I came to the shop and the staff put other things they had going on hold to help me and a few minutes later my computer was fixed! This team gets an A+ across the board! I will use them for all my computer needs! Craig is also helping me put together a website at extremely reasonable price!

These guys are great. If you still value the importance of supporting family businesses and appreciate years of experience that these guys have, then this is the place to go with your computer problems. They were quick at diagnosing the problem with my laptop, finding a solution, fixing the problem, explaining everything (and more), and charging a very reasonabe fee. You can't go wrong with avoiding big chain store shops and going with these guys instead.

My computer is still in for repair, but so far I am impressed with Craig’s knowledge and care and kindness. Looking forward to working with him more.

The Eldest Geek Guys are honest, reliable computer experts with excellent customer service that fixed both an HP laptop and an iPod Touch for me. Located on the 2nd floor of Mt Vernon Antique Center might sound unusual, but once you see their simple yet efficient set-up and get quoted an extremely reasonable price for service, you'll understand the value of low overhead costs.

For someone that has thrown money at cars and boats that were well past their prime, it was refreshing to get an honest and clear assessment of future use/value of my electronic devices from these guys and then decide whether I wanted them serviced. They answered all my questions and were very straightforward and honest about what options I was looking at with my devices. Both the HP laptop and the iPod Touch still had good use/viability and these guys put them both back to prime working order in less than 24 hours.

I wholeheartedly recommend these guys and will only use them in the future to fix my computers/phones/etc.

FYI: closed Tuesdays but open every other day including Saturdays and Sundays. Parking is ample on either side of the building and there is a convenient street behind the building to re-enter traffic safely so you don't have to try to make a left turn out onto the highway.

The Hard Drive went bad on my 1 1/2 year old desktop. I took it to Craig (Oldest Geek) on a Friday and I had it back on Saturday. All my documents were saved and retrieved for me. Super fast and professional service. Awesome job..A+ Rating. Thank you

My wife spilled tea on her new top-of-the-line Retina Macbook, and it fried. Talking with geeks at Apple and Microcenter, the best they could offer was a "deal" on a new machine, and my $3,000 down the drain. Saturday at 6:30 PM I called Craig (the Chief Eldest Geek), not expecting much. He said, "bring it by and let's have a look". Hidden on the second floor of an antique shop (think of movies Wizard of Oz and Gremlins), elbowed between floor-to-ceiling stacks of computers, was the man himself. Craig dropped the bottom cover and showed me how the liquid had gotten deep into the chassis, under the logic board and power supply. Craig said he could fix it, "no doubt" and gave me an estimate, which although steep, was worth it to resurrect my wife's computer (and my wife). It took quite a bit of doing, and he had to replace a handful of logic board components, but sonovagun, Craig did get that machine back up. At home I found that the charging circuit still wasnt working right, and gave it back to Craig for more work at no extra charge (he considered it part of the first repair). This time he got it right; Craig promised that my Mac would be "100% as good as new", and this time it was. MEANWHILE… I had my old spare Macbook die on me ("kernel panic"), conveniently the day my Retina machine was ready for pickup. so I brought it with me. Craig's stepson Alex was holding the fort. Alex popped the cover off and within 30 seconds confirmed that the RAM card was bad. He found a good card in another machine of similar vintage in the pile, slid the good card into my machine and it was back up, with twice the RAM it had originally. I almost had to argue with Alex to take the money for the second repair, which was a very reasonable price. In case you have doubts, these guys are the real deal. Dont let the antique store put you off, these guys have the know-how, tools, and test equipment to do very complex component-level repairs that even Apple doesnt do. And BTW, young Alex has proven to be quite the geek himself! I FINALLY have somewhere to bring my Apple products for expert, old-fashioned REPAIR! Thanks, guys.

Craig was amazing. Quality work and quick! I will be taking all of my computers to him when they need fixing. He really knows computers! I have a macbook air and the screen was completely removed from the keyboard. He was able to fix it the same day and it works it perfectly now! His prices are also extremely reasonable. Craig was a pleasure and to talk to and I really appreciate his work.

I brought my computer to his shop expecting I needed a new board or a recovery from a failed hard drive. It turned out to be a virus and my computer is back working better then it has for a long time.

Craig diagnosed my MacBook Air free of charge and once the issues had been explained to me, he then let me know all of my options for repair. Because my computer was already several years old, I had some questions about repairing it versus replacing it with a new one. Craig helped me weigh my options, and ultimately we decided to switch my hard drive into a used MacBook Air of the same year that he had in the shop. At no point during this process did I feel as though his primary interest was to get money out of me. I would recommend them to anyone in need of a computer repair!

I messed up my iMac by thinking it would be easy to swap out my hard drive for an SSD. Everything went well, until it didn't… My display stopped working and the hard drive wasn't detected.

These guys know what they are doing and kept in the loop throughout the entire process. I'll definitely bring my Apple products here from now on. Take your Mac to the Apple Store if you want to pay double (if not more), The Eldest Geek has earned my highest respect. Job well done gentlemen!

Amazing! I spilled (well my dog did) water on my computer. They actually gave me a trade-in for a better computer for a very low price, and had everything done, within two hours. This saved my life for a presentation. (I now live in Alexandria even though profile says CA.)

Truly excellent. It takes a lot for me to write a review. The Eldest Geek got my computer fixed in 24 hours, which was super important since it is my work computer and I have upcoming deadlines. The price was reasonable and I couldn’t be happier. Well worth the drive to Alexandria.

I wanted to replace the graphics card in an HP EliteBook 8540w laptop. I requested estimates for doing the work. Given those who responded, Craig 's estimate for cost and time required to perform the work was the most attractive.

As for the time required to perform the work, around lunchtime on 6 February 2020, I handed it to him and around lunchtime of the next day, I got it from him. As for the cost, the actual cost was less than the estimated cost. I inspected and tested the product (my laptop), it looked good and passed my tests.

In conclusion, for service performance and product quality, I gave him five stars.

Great service, very knowledgable, has kept me and my family from wasting money on waisted repairs and sold us used computers which have and are still serving us well. When I’m in a computer pinch, craig is the first person I go to.

I’d done business with Craig remotely. I needed to pickup a laptop from him, and my 2011 iMac needed some updates. The laptop was ready when I got there. The memory upgrade was done VERY quickly. The system “slowness” was due to the fact that my internal hard drive had some problems. The drive was replaced very quickly. They installed Yosemite on it, and all I had to was use my Time Machine backup to restore my data. These guys know their stuff, they’ve been at it for a LONG time. They have parts there, so some repairs (as mine) can be done while you wait. They have comfortable chairs to sit in, and many interesting things (including all kinds of vintage computer gear) to look at while you wait.
