I messed up my iMac by thinking it would be easy to swap out my hard drive for an SSD. Everything went well, until it didn't… My display stopped working and the hard drive wasn't detected.

These guys know what they are doing and kept in the loop throughout the entire process. I'll definitely bring my Apple products here from now on. Take your Mac to the Apple Store if you want to pay double (if not more), The Eldest Geek has earned my highest respect. Job well done gentlemen!

They gave me a free diagnosis and a very reasonable estimate to fix my gaming computer. This is my first time giving a review to anyone. I felt so compelled to do so bc they are awesome. Don’t be fooled by his lack of a storefront. He is the real deal and you will feel lucky and glad you found him. After a liquid spill on my MacBook Pro 2012 model I went to MicroCenter � did not even consider the high priced Apple store. Microcenter wanted $70 just to check it out and the repair would take at least 3 to 5 days. Granted in the unibody Mac the keyboard is actually the bottom layer and is viewed as a “difficult repair.” (I am an electrical engineer and considered doing it myself)

Craig took the case off while I was waiting and diagnosed that it was just the keyboard, no liquid damage to logic boards. I left the laptop and shortly after I got home Craig called to say it was ready for pickup. I could have just had a long lunch and saved on travel time. The MacBook works great, but if there was a problem he guarantees his work. He replaced only what was needed so the material cost is low and his low overhead keeps costs at a relative bargain. In these days of mostly disappointing service Craig was one of the few good experiences I have had with service in a long time.

Responded quicker than I could put my phone down. We also ready to get the job done. Highly recommended!

Craig was very responsive and convinced me to come to his shop. He figured the problem out quickly, made an acceptable quote and fixed my MacBook within an hour. Worked well so far. Craig includes a 6 months warranty.

I wanted to replace the graphics card in an HP EliteBook 8540w laptop. I requested estimates for doing the work. Given those who responded, Craig 's estimate for cost and time required to perform the work was the most attractive.

As for the time required to perform the work, around lunchtime on 6 February 2020, I handed it to him and around lunchtime of the next day, I got it from him. As for the cost, the actual cost was less than the estimated cost. I inspected and tested the product (my laptop), it looked good and passed my tests.

In conclusion, for service performance and product quality, I gave him five stars.

I have a macbook air and the screen was completely removed from the keyboard. He was able to fix it the same day and it works it perfectly now! His prices are also extremely reasonable. About a month ago, I woke up one morning unable to power on my 4-5 year old laptop. Having a Geek Squad service coverage, I first took it to Best Buy to have them take a look. A costly, risky solution was offered, but I wasn’t fully convinced it was the only option.

After doing some research, I found Top Tech/The Eldest Geek and, impressed by reviews, decided to give them a call. I spoke with Alex, and after describing my problem and giving him my model information, he immediately gave me 3 or 4 possible issues that could be preventing my computer to start. It was evident that this guy knew his “you know what,” so I took a ride out to the Top Tech offices the next day for a free diagnostic.

In about 5 minutes, Alex found what the issue was and gave me an estimate, which would be for the actual work only and not a part that needed to be replaced. A few days later, he called and said it was all ready to go. The computer is now running better than before and Alex even replaced some loose screws free of charge, so it feels sturdier as well. All of this was done at a fraction of what Geek Squad was suggesting, which I’m not even sure would have worked and kept my data intact – something I stressed the importance of to Alex.

Since having this repair, I have also turned to Top Tech to complete a data transfer and replace a broken screen on my brother’s laptop. If you’re having a problem and feel like all hope is lost, give Top Tech a call. Their services helped me to avoid a major business and personal setback.

He transferred all data from a damaged computer to a new computer. He did it while I waited. I was thoroughly pleased with the results.

These guys are great. I brought them a laptop with a broken power button (which wouldn’t turn on). They figured out the problem (which was something else) and fixed it promptly, and for a very fair fee that was much less than buying a new laptop.

They are located in Mount Vernon but don’t let that scare you if you are in Arlington – they also do house calls.

They provide a six-month warranty on any repair.

They fix any desktop or laptop, including Macs. They can open the case, figure it out, and fix it (including repairs that involve soldering). Their affiliate, Orlogic Repairs, does logic board repairs.

If your laptop RAM or storage is upgradable, they also do that.

TopTech also has used laptops (Mac and PC), which also have a 6-month warranty. Unlike the used laptops on eBay, Amazon Warehouse or Craigslist, with these laptops you know what you are getting and there is someone who will fix it for free if there are problems.

I am writing this review from the laptop, 2 months after it got fixed with Craig the Eldest Geek.
My macbook pro graphics failed and it never booted… it stopped at the grey screen and nothing happens.. When I took to apple store, they refused to work on it as my laptop is customized with an SSD drive in place of the optical drive. Craig took the laptop for fix, and he took his time, but gave it with the perfect fix that I didn't have to look back.
btw he also fixed my iPad2 where the power button was not working..
For mac support, he is the go-to person and you won't regret..

Also it is good to know that he sells pre-used/refurbished computers at affordable prices at the desired configurations.. I would consider buying from him for my next computer needs based on the trust he earned..

My wife spilled tea on her new top-of-the-line Retina Macbook, and it fried. Talking with geeks at Apple and Microcenter, the best they could offer was a "deal" on a new machine, and my $3,000 down the drain. Saturday at 6:30 PM I called Craig (the Chief Eldest Geek), not expecting much. He said, "bring it by and let's have a look". Hidden on the second floor of an antique shop (think of movies Wizard of Oz and Gremlins), elbowed between floor-to-ceiling stacks of computers, was the man himself. Craig dropped the bottom cover and showed me how the liquid had gotten deep into the chassis, under the logic board and power supply. Craig said he could fix it, "no doubt" and gave me an estimate, which although steep, was worth it to resurrect my wife's computer (and my wife). It took quite a bit of doing, and he had to replace a handful of logic board components, but sonovagun, Craig did get that machine back up. At home I found that the charging circuit still wasnt working right, and gave it back to Craig for more work at no extra charge (he considered it part of the first repair). This time he got it right; Craig promised that my Mac would be "100% as good as new", and this time it was. MEANWHILE… I had my old spare Macbook die on me ("kernel panic"), conveniently the day my Retina machine was ready for pickup. so I brought it with me. Craig's stepson Alex was holding the fort. Alex popped the cover off and within 30 seconds confirmed that the RAM card was bad. He found a good card in another machine of similar vintage in the pile, slid the good card into my machine and it was back up, with twice the RAM it had originally. I almost had to argue with Alex to take the money for the second repair, which was a very reasonable price. In case you have doubts, these guys are the real deal. Dont let the antique store put you off, these guys have the know-how, tools, and test equipment to do very complex component-level repairs that even Apple doesnt do. And BTW, young Alex has proven to be quite the geek himself! I FINALLY have somewhere to bring my Apple products for expert, old-fashioned REPAIR! Thanks, guys.

Can’t thank them enough for fixing my 2011 MBP GPU. Apple would not touch it. And tons of scammers out there wanting you to send your machine in only to find out people never get them back… went here to their store front and they turned it around in a week saving me $2000 on a new one. I was in search of hard drive rails that would fit my custom PC and hold my hard drive in place. Though they didn't have them (they don't seem to be available anywhere), the gentleman brainstormed different solutions and suggestions and presented an alternative solution using screws, which although the original intention couldn't work, I was able to use those screws in a different manner to secure my hard drive. So ultimately, problem solved! Great service.

A little unusual setting, but very knowledgeable, straightforward, and helpful. Price was reasonable. The only problem was the repair did not hold and the laptop hinge popped after two days.

My computer is still in for repair, but so far I am impressed with Craig’s knowledge and care and kindness. Looking forward to working with him more.
